Topic: At Williams.

There’s too much to be said about what it’s like to come back. I think the only word that can somewhat sum up my feelings is: WOW.

It mostly feels surreal. Sometimes I feel like I need to pinch the building because it doesn’t look real enough to me. I have this overwhelming desire to touch everything I see because I don’t trust what I’m seeing.

I LOVE. LOVE. LOVE. COLLEGE. Including the reading/homework/studying/tests/papers part. I spent most of this week and last week being a nerd - once class ended, I immediately started studying. Kind of embarrassing, but I think this fact alone speaks for just how much I missed going to school.

Also, I made monumental progress in the Record office. Figuring out how to use the database program at the Record was a challenge on its own. It’s a decades old program - it only operates on Windows’ 95! - and works on an even more archaic computer. In the end, I decided to forgo it and just compiled a new subscriptions list on Excel. There’s a neat feature called “mail merge” on Word, and using that, I was able to merge all the contact info in Excel into Word (which was essential because I needed to make mailing labels). I’m feeling pretty excited about my discovery since no one had discovered that feature before, and I’m saving $500-1000 bucks for the Record (as they will no longer need to buy another database program). It’s also a lot easier for me too; I’ll be able to update all the info from my laptop instead of having to log onto the ancient computer in the Record office.

I also met up with some of my professors from last year. But that was also sort of inevitable since I’m retaking most of the classes I’d signed up for initially. My English professor and I had a meaningful conversation yesterday about politics, life, FRS (freshmen seminar), and teaching. I really enjoyed spending that one hour talking to him - I was afraid that we wouldn’t have much to talk about, but it turned out that we had wayyyy too much to discuss. So now I’m inspired to see my professors more often during their office hours. One of the best things about Williams is the fact that the professors are so willing to spend time to talk to you about anything. They have so much to share, and you can learn so much from listening to them.

But yup. I’m waiting for my best friend to come from BU to visit me today - hence why I haven’t been able to focus on studying (or writing for the matter) that much. Which I really should do since I’d probably spend my time on the weekend not studying…

Oh well. I’m going to take a breather and just enjoy this marvelous Friday afternoon. I deserve to take a break.
